Abstract

Introduction: Synchronous gynecological cancer is a rare entity with a special clinical and pathological interest, it is thus called those neoplasms that occur in the same patient, simultaneously or successively. Objective: To demonstrate the experience in the diagnosis and management of synchronous gynecological cancer in the gynecological oncology consultation of the surgery service of the La Trinidad Teaching Medical Center. Methods: A descriptive observational study type case series was carried out. The population consisted of 3,854 patients with a diagnosis of gynecological cancer, of which 350 histories with a diagnosis of gynecological cancer were selected with 2 neoplasms in different body locations, who attended the Gynecological Oncology consultation at the La Trinidad Teaching Medical Center from 2000-2020.Results: 350 histories of patients with a diagnosis of gynecological cancer with 2 neoplasms in different body locations were evaluated, of which, according to the exclusion criteria, 4 cases with synchronous cancer were diagnosed, representing a 1.1% frequency in the consultation. Conclusion: The diagnosis of synchronous cancer should always be considered in all patients when they present some type of gynecological cancer, since this condition is more and more frequent, it is confirmed that survival and the time free of relapse of the disease will depend on the correct staging of each of the cancers separately and emphasize the importance of imaging studies.
