Abstract

One of the structures with the highest incidence of injury is the anterior cruciate ligament. These injuries are more common in athletes who often perform sports that involve decelerating, braking, jumping and twisting movements. Reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most frequently performed procedures in knee surgeries. The research was retrospective, cross-sectional and descriptive and was carried out at the CMDT during the period from January 2017 to October 2024. 61.9% of patients had a satisfactory outcome, 38.1% presented residual instability or failure of the ALL reconstruction. The predominant age was 31 to 50 years with 27.3%. The predominant gender was male with 66.7%, the most affected side was the left with 58.3%. The Lyshoml functional scale reached a value of 0.895 but was not as significant compared to the previous value. The Eva scale obtained a postoperative value of 0.501, which, although it is above the expected value, is not as significant compared to the previous value. It is concluded that the highest percentage of patients undergoing reconstruction of the anterolateral ligament of the knee progressed satisfactorily, functionality was measured with the Lyshoml scale and pain intensity with the EVA scale, both reported variations but were not as significant as expected. .  There were no patients who underwent reoperation due to residual instability or failure of the anterolateral knee ligament reconstruction.
