Abstract

Evaluation of bone neoplastic lesions begins with a patient history and physical examination. The clinical evolution of tumor entities is related to their degree of malignancy, according to what has been demonstrated in imaging studies. Aim: To explore the clinical-radiological correlation of musculoskeletal tumors evaluated in the bone tumor unit of the La Trinidad Medical Teaching Center, in the period from 2017 to 2022. Method: The research was longitudinal, retrospective, observational and descriptive. The population consisted of 52 patients, with imaging studies and clinical history correctly performed. Results: The average age was 41 years. 50% female and 50% male. Regarding the relationship between age group and benignity-malignancy, the highest percentage of malignancy and benignity is in the age range of 18-24 years and 51-57 years. The tumor lesions found was distributed according to the 2020 classification of the World Health Organization (WHO), finding: Chondrogenic Tumors (21.15%), followed by tumors rich in giant cells (19.23%), osteogenic tumors and metastases in (11.54%). Conclusion: The direct relationship between clinical and radiology in patients in whom a bone tumor is suspected is an important element when establishing an accurate and early diagnosis of the entities, according to current classifications, which cannot be considered in isolation.
