Medical care during the on-call is a complex act that requires time, dedication and concentration, where later upon receiving a call for some eventuality of a patient it is necessary: review of medical history, anamnesis and evaluation of the reason for the call, and its relationship with symptoms presented during their hospitalization stay, which culminates with the formulation of a clinical judgment that must be transmitted to the treating physician for the prescription of definitive treatment. The research is descriptive, analytical, ambispective, non-experimental. The calls made and reported by the on-call team of the medical hospital care residence (RAMH) were included. For the results, 151 calls to the guard groups of which were analyzed. 45.70% were due to pain and 21.19% were due to dyspnea, these being the most frequent causes of calls in hospitalized patients. There is no evidence of a relationship between the cause and the call times. The work shows that pain represents great importance in hospitalized patients and suggests the need to carry out studies with a larger sample and focused on pain and its management in patients to establish its relationship with the factors to which it relates. faces the patient once he or she is hospitalized.
