The prevention of infectious diseases through immunization is considered one of the greatest achievements of public health. Adverse reactions to vaccines are very varied, from a mild local reaction to severe systemic reactions. Post-vaccination meningitis is defined by: clinical criteria (fever, vomiting, irritability or headache 15 to 35 days after vaccination), laboratory criteria (lymphocytic pleocytosis, negative Gram stain and bacteriological culture of CSF), virological confirmation of aetiology of meningitis (positive CSF culture for mumps virus and molecular determination of the isolated strain). In this review we describe the case of a 1-year-old male infant who was admitted for presenting a first febrile seizure with a history of immunization with SRP 3 weeks prior.
