Knee replacement surgery brings great successes in orthopedic surgery and modern technology that has revolutionized the treatment of joint, degenerative and inflammatory pathologies. The present work aims to evaluate the decompression of the patella in the prevention of anterior knee pain after the Total arthroplasty, in patients who attend the La Trinidad Teaching Medical Center. This research was supported through an observational, descriptive and prospective study. The population will be made up of patients between 50 and 75 years old with knee osteoarthritis, the sample is made up of 24 patients who underwent decompression of the patella in TKA, in the period from January 2020 to july 2021. The predominant age is between the range from 68 to 75 years with 45.8% (n = 11), the mode is 56-year-old patients, the median is 67-year-old patients, the mean with the standard deviation 65.3 +/- 7.45. The frequency is high for female patients, with 79.2% (n = 19). The ratio of the knees is 1: 1, there was no difference in them. According to the Lysholm tegner scale, the first month of control 54.1% (n = 13) of the sample was in the range 65 and 83 where it is a fair score. While the value of the control score increased by months, the functionality of the patients' knee improved, in such a way that in the sixth month 91.6% (n = 22) showed an excellent score. Regarding complications, there were only 8.4% complications, these being: postoperative arthrofibrosis and postoperative neurological injury.
