About the Journal

The scientific journal Revista Científica CMDLT is the official scientific publication of the Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad (CMDLT), an institution located in Caracas, Venezuela. The CMDLT is a non-profit civil association of foundational type. The income obtained through the medical care operation is destined exclusively to the development of different medical services models, education in health sciences, and fundamental and applied biomedical research, as well as to community and social projection. Educational and community activities are the essence of the Institution and the greatest contribution to the community as an added value.

Over the years, the CMDLT has increasingly deepened the knowledge of Venezuelan medical education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, thus making an important contribution to the country's academic preparation.

The Revista Científica CMDLT medical journal’s mission is that of disseminating the academic contents in health sciences so that students and professionals in this area can learn about proven and accepted topics, practices, and innovations and offer patients and society in general the best possible health care, according to globally-acknowledged standards. To this end, the journal strives to continuously publish, in open access format, original articles, reviews, clinical cases, and epidemiological data resulting from research in health sciences. Our editorial project includes articles on clinical sciences, surgical sciences, basic sciences, public health, applied health technology, teaching, and assistance activities. The CMDLT scientific journal is aimed at all health professionals including medical specialties such as dentistry, psychology, bioanalysis, and nursing, as well as at teachers and students at national and international levels.

The scientific journal Revista Científica CMDLT was initially created under the name of Proyección Docente (Teaching Projection) as a newsletter of the Education and Research Department of the CMDLT, in circulation since 2007 and available at no cost and freely accessible in digital format for user-friendly consultation on all devices. At the time of its creation, our newsletter was conceived as an informative hybrid aimed at specialists and the general public. Since 2015, we have redirected our focus to a purely scientific editorial product in clear response to the new mission of Teaching Projection and are working at making it the communicational tool of the CMDLT written by and for health professionals.

The Editorial Committee, made up by specialists in each of the journal's sections, follows international recommendations for the evaluation of research designs, arbitration processes, determination of conflicts of interests, plagiarism or misconduct, and editorial decision making set forth by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the   World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) , and the Committee on Publicaction Ethics (COPE).

Our objective is  that of obtaining volumes with high-quality scientific and methodological contents the information of which is truly useful, reliable, and replicable in the scientific practice of the different specialties.

The Open Journal System platform (OJS) is used to file all the journal’s articles and issues under an open access policy, in order to foster scientific exchange and global knowledge by making all accepted research products and texts freely available to readers or authors in full, without restrictions, and without generating costs  in any of the editorial processes.

The publications spectrum of our journal includes diverse areas of health sciences, as well as literature reviews, clinical cases, and original research.

Consequently, our journal is composed of the following sections:

  • Surgical Sciences

As of 2021, we have updated our publication policies, renewing ourselves and growing in order to generate a high-quality journal that allows the dissemination of scientific knowledge for the entire Latin American and world community.
